The dice were set in motion; the cards fell into place; and the spotlight hit the MEcOnistas upfront last week from November 14, 16-18, 2016 during All In: MEcO Pride Week over at the Colayco Pavilion.
Time after time, MEcO constantly provides mediums for its members to foster and strengthen relationships with one another. And, amidst all of the organization’s avenues, this feature of MEcO becomes most evident during the onset of the semestral weeklong internal event: Pride Week. Attuned to its name, it is during this event wherein the MEcOnistas showcase their organizational pride throughout the run of the week.
This semester, the event was themed accordingly to Las Vegas for two reasons. For one, to act as a leeway to debunk the misconception of investing being gambling and vice versa via select activities. And second, to create a setting ideal for the members to indulge in during their hectic schedules – all the while getting the full experience of glamour and excitement that is both Las Vegas and MEcO.
Upon stepping into Colayco and completing registration, the members would be presented with a number of attractions to engage in. They could take their chance and give the Wheel of Dares a spin, or even opt to set people up over at the Marriage Booth.
The Freshly Baked corner would also tempt the passersby with the scrumptious chocolate cookies they have had at the ready.
Another snack they could treat themselves to would be the seemingly infinite amount of Creamy Delight yogurt sponsored by Asia Brewery. If they would like, they could just have a meal with fellow members over by the tables settled next to the video game console, and also have a go at Dance Central or a friendly bout of sports or even take on some board games.
If they had time to kill, the MEcO information board could be checked out along with the photo booth area. Also, the Crossfit station could be visited wherein MEcOnistas could easily sign-up for a free trial over at Crossfit Katipunan. And, if they wanted to take a break from the bustling day, they could simply head over to the “tambay” area of carpets, throw pillows, and bean bags to relax on.
Apart from those weeklong attractions, Pride Week was also jam-packed with a variety of events that enabled old and new members alike to partake in. The program primarily consisted of gameshow-like activities, namely: Minute to Win It, The Price is Right, Trivial Pursuit and Family Feud.
Flash mobs to 24K Magic also occurred spontaneously, encouraging anyone to join in! Notably, other activities such as the Informal Investment Talks and Sunlife: Praxis transpired to function as informative and interesting mediums aimed towards MEcOnistas, so as to add on to their awareness towards the organization’s core competencies.
Additionally, Agawan Baes, a Hotdog Eating competition, Drunk Waiter, and other parlor games also ensued on select days that put MEcOnistas head to head with each other to reign victorious.
Pride Week was an event carefully planned out months in advance, spearheaded by the guidance of the Project Heads and sophomore Internals Officers: Dannica Cabangon, Gette Macaalay, Jayvee Sinon and Roberto Nazal. When asked about their insights and thoughts after Pride Week transpired, this was shared:
The journey was one of a kind, but one that we wouldn’t change anything for. Amazing would be an understatement to describe the splendor, joy and pride that reverberated throughout the duration of Pride Week – and also within the entire Pride Week team turned family.
And, speaking of amazing, the Amazing Investment Race, held at the Ateneo Grade School, culminated the weeklong event with challenging activities and surprises that were held in store. With MEcO, you never know what to expect – so, just be ready to go all out and stay all in!
